Battle of he Books Kick Off Week is here!!! Click on the link to find out more information about Battle of the Books. Reading Counts Motivational Reading Program 2011-2012 (Grades 2, 3, 4, & 5)
Reading Counts is an independent reading program that allows children to take short comprehension quizzes based on the books they have read. Students track their goal progress throughout the year. Students who meet their goals are invited to the Reading Counts Celebration. Students have until January 19th to meet their individual Reading Counts Goal.
Student goals are based on the scale below: Lexile* Goal 1-99 10 points 100-199 15 Points 200-299 20 Points 300-399 20 Points 400-499 25 Points 500-599 25 Points 600+ 30 Points
*Students take the Scholastic Reading Inventory (SRI-a reading comprehension and leveling assessment). The SRI provides the student with a Lexile (score). Lexiles are used by to match students with books and are also used as a tool to help measure growth in reading. For more information about the Lexile system, please visit http://www.lexile.com/

Congratulations Green Team!! Click here to see a list of everything our school is collecting. Tuesday, October 25th, 2011, three awards were presented at the Pinellas County School Board meeting. Our school was officially presented with a plaque for the Green and Healthy Schools Certification Award at its highest level. This recognized the schools accomplishments in trying to further ‘green’ the school by reducing waste, recycling and reusing when possible, as well as conserving water and electricity for the 2010-2011 school year. Accepting on behalf of the school was Assistant Principal Kurt Wyne and teacher Tim Reynolds.
Two other inaugural awards were presented to Noah Reynolds, 4th grade student in Mrs. Gist-Walker’s class, for being the Pinellas County Student Recycler of the Year and to Coach Tim Reynolds for being the Teacher Recycler of the Year. Noah was also introduced for his accomplishments at the national kick-off event for the Dream Machine Recycle Rally at Westgate Elementary School.

What's for Lunch? See this months menu here. We are so excited to let you know that students attending 74th St. will receive free breakfast beginning the 1st day of school till the last day of school. As you know, it is the most important meal of the day! If a child has any food allergies, please send your child's teacher a doctor’s note stating what they are allergic to.
School Breakfast All student breakfasts include 2 Grain/Breads or 2 Meat/Meat alternate or 1 Grain/Bread & 1 Meat/Meat alternate, 1 Fruit and 1 Milk.
All student lunches include 1 Meat/Meat alternate, 2 Fruits or 2 Vegetables or 1 Fruit & 1 Vegetable, 1 Grain/Bread & 1 Milk.
Elementary Lunch prices are $1.75 if you pay and if it's Reduced its .40.

School Payment Solutions is an online payment portal especially designed to allow parents to make quick and easy online payments to their children’s school meal accounts.
Please use the website link below to add funds to your student’s prepaid account, www.schoolpaymentsolutions.com
Make sure that you are also using the correct 10 digit student ID number. This number can be found on Portal by clicking the My Child link and then the Child Info link. The number will be labeled as the “Local Student ID” and it will begin with the number 52.
